The cattery name story
|

- One of the first appelations of the Canadian naked cats was
"Moonstone cats", or in French: the cats "Pierre de Lune". This was
undoubtedly related to their naked and smooth skin...
- These so affectionate cats are the jewels of our houses what
explains the word "Jewel".
- The chattery is thus called "le joyaux Pierre de Lune", or Moonstone
Jewel in the english final version.

About The breeder

- This cattery was born on my initiative, and I am, to some extent,
the person in charge for the quality of "A Moonstone Jewel" breeding. .
- The breeding of the Sphynx cats became Hobby after the purchase of
my first sphynx, which was a Christmas present offered to my husband.
- After this first sphynx 3 others sphynx arrived at home within a year.
- My goal is to raise these splendid cats by privileging a programme
of breeding having for objective to improve and promote the race like
reducing the genetic diseases such as Cardiomyopathie Hypertrophique
(CMH or HCM) which concerns the Sphynx breed. That's why evry studs and queens perform an HCM ecography every 12-18 months.
- Our cats live in the house, with the family and our two
Chinese Crested dogs (naked ones). The kittens are well handled and socialized, and will be able
to adapt easily to their new family life.

This Cattery is TICA registered (The International Cat Association)

- What is TICA ?
- It is an International organization, located in Texas, USA, like the LOOF in France or
the ABC in Belgium for instance. Like others their role is to record the cats genealogy in their database in order to guarantee the
official origins of all the registered cats.
- Why having a TICA registration choosen ?
- TICA is one of the only organizations (if not the only one) which authorizes the "out crossing" for the sphynx breed.
- TICA is the only organization which enables me to integrate other breeds
such as domestic short hair into my breeding program.(project only at that time)
- The kittens resulting from this out crossing program between a Domestic Short Hair and a pure breed sphynx will have a specific TICA pedigree. This pedigree will enable me to
continue this new bloodline by crossing it with other pure Sphynx Breed.
- The third generation resulting from this out crossing will receive a
"traditional" pedigree.
